I detest cheesy transitions and effects. I abhore productions that inundate you with computer enhancements. Good camera and sound work in the first place makes for a vastly superior program and a far less time-intensive editing session.

My old pet peve as a Script Supervisor was the director whose ego led him to shoot incomplete or mismatched scenes because he thought his editor could "fix" anything. Computer effects are great and can add some sparkle but they can't substitute for good coverage and a good story.

I strive to make your program flow like a movie and NOT like an old Batman TV episode. That means I don't use things like zoom transitions or checker-board wipes or swirly paint ripple dissolves. I mainly use the same stuff that you see in any classic movie: cuts, fades & dissolves.

One person's cheese is another person's favorite flavor so I always ask clients about their tastes in filters before I begin editing.
