Here's
some true-to-life advice on how to get the best out of your
volunteer videographer.

 Have
them tape the event using video tapes that
you have purchased because without a contract, whoever
owns the tapes owns what's on the tapes.
 Give
him/her a thank-you card,
A $25 coffee house gift card
and $50 cash. If real money doesn't
change hands then neither will an edited video. Show them you
understand their needs and that their work will mean the world
to you and your offspring. Say it with words, say it with coffee
(for those late nights at the editing bench) and say it with money.
If you do, you will get a video before your child is walking.
Shooting the video is far more glamourous than editing it. Editing
takes a long time...and there's really no such thing as "spare
